I bought this crate after my 65 pound rescue dog destroyed the regular-style, black-coated, metal crate we got for him. I was hoping for a heavy-duty metal that would be stronger than his teeth, but this crate did not fit my needs. I was skeptical when I received it because it looked like the same width metal as the old crate, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt and set it up. Unfortunately, my dog went through another one of his random high anxiety weeks and within three days he had pulled the door in, pulled wires off from their welding, which were then dangerous to his eyes and face, and finally, bent it enough that he could push his way out. I was very disappointed in the quality of the crate. If you have a dog that is an effective crate destroyer, I would NOT recommend this product. Buy the $400 extremely heavy-duty options out there and save yourself some frustration and ultimately, money. Or consider putting your dog on Benedryl or Prozac.

I would actually return these items if the return shipping cost wasn't so high. These cages huge, heavy and flimsy and not the "heavy duty" construction that I expected based on the name and description. The powdercoating is already starting to rub off on one of them which makes the door hinge difficult and grabby. The clasps that are used for transporting get in the way and you have to be careful to not bend them or break them off entirely when fully setup. The metal trays are extremely noisy (took me days to acclimate my dogs into these crates after adding padding underneath to quiet the noise). They are also poorly constructed and have sharp corners (spurs) due to the crimp of the design. I also regret not getting a cage with removable doors.

This crate was nearly as heavy duty as the description implied. I had a 10lb dog that was able to bend the wires with his teeth and pull off one of the wires.

Comments about General Cage General Cage Premium Line Dog Crate:
This crate is serving as a replacement for a medium-grade crate with a plastic pan that our 90-pound 1-year-old Weimaraner destroyed. First, she ate the plastic pan. Next, she got a hold on the rug beneath the crate and tugged it into the crate, where she gutted it. When we got home 2 hours after she was crated, we found 3 feet of shredded rug, plastic pan bits, and horribly bent crate bars from where she had forced the rug through the bars. (see photo)
This heavy-duty crate with the metal pan has solved out problems. Its design is simple, the gauge of steel is sufficient, and it is roomy within its confines. Our dog was able to push the metal tray through its stops and out from under the crate, but she wasn't able to do any damage. Now, she appears resigned to the fact that she can't bend this particular crate as easily as she could other brands in the past (she did bend one bar only slightly, but I got it back into shape quickly), and now she just sleeps until our return. I highly recommend this product for those people with large, strong, active dogs, and would further recommend that your purchase begins here, rather than as a last resort.
Delivery was prompt, and set-up was easy.
