Comments about Midwest Ultima Pro Triple Door Folding Dog Crate:

Our smaller crate was a Precision crate, but our dog grew and so we needed a larger size. The reviews were good and so we bought the Midwest Ultima Pro 748 UP. When we set it up it seemed less study. Some of the clips were broken and so we actually added carabiners to the doors as a back up. (The doors were coming off very easily in our hands and they were difficult to put back on.) Our dog is well crate trained and so we weren't that worried, we just needed something he could sleep in while we were out. It is a very spacious crate and so we were excited for the dog to have more room. However, when we came home that first day he barked from behind the front door as we were coming home. He was loose in the house! The cat was fine, he was fine, the house was amazingly fine, but the crate was open. He had knocked down the whole side of the crate and stepped out. This dog is not an escape artist, but he is big. He must have leaned or bumped into it. I immediately drove to the next town and bought a larger Precision brand crate from a store. When we set that one up it was noticeably sturdier. Overall the Precision crate is a few inches smaller in a few of the dimensions, but I will take the security over the space any day. When I called Pet Crates Direct to tell them about the dissatisfaction they were very understanding. Since we had used the crate, she could not take it back, but was genuinely interested in our feedback. She also encouraged us to call Midwest Metal and talk to them. I did and they asked us to send photos of the issues we had with the crate, so they can look into it. I sent photos and videos and have yet to hear from them, but they seemed very nice and were very apologetic about the whole thing. We are out almost $200 between the crate [...] We considered welding and clamping it together to make it sturdier, but then it would be difficult to remove from the house to clean periodically. Just wanted to share our experience. If I hear more from Midwest, I'll pass along the information.

Prompt delivery although I wish the carrier would have put it at the back door instead of the front door in plain sight. Next time I will add delivery instructions

This crate has worked out really well. Lori recommended a bed that fits perfectly, and our dog Jake will go in whenever he wants to lay down ... and he doesn't mind going in when we go out, and it keeps him out of trouble.

Comments about Midwest Ultima Pro Triple Door Folding Dog Crate:

We purchased the 31" Ultima Pro triple door model for little Franklin who is Boston Terrier and the newest member of our family. The 24" is the recommended size for Bostons but we got him the next size up (31") to give him plenty of space when he's fully grown so it's quite roomy at his size.

Franklin is six months old now and has grown to love his little home. When he makes his last bathroom trip of the night, we tell him to 'go get in your bed' and off he goes without further direction. He really loves it!

The crate is sturdy and clearly made of excellent materials, with nice joints and welds with no rough edges anywhere that I can see. The tray is made of a sturdy-enough plastic to last and for cleaning, slides easily out the end without moving the crate from it's location if it is pointed in the right direction.

It has a carrying handle but at this size would be awkward to "carry" more than putting on a luggage cart if your little friend is to be traveling. We don't fly with him, but I would feel comfortable if necessary, because the doors feature dual sliding locks so securing it wouldn't worry me at all.

This particular crate is excellent in that you can face it in any direction and still leave your Fido room to comfortably get in and out. Franklin likes the side door on the lengthwise side so we hang his water bottle on the end and he's set for a long night's sleep.

I highly recommend buying this model as you won't find a better quality item anywhere else. I'm a price shopper and at the time I bought this, Pet Crates Direct offered the best deal that I could find.

Service & Delivery comments:

Pet Crates customer service is very helpful. I exchanged a couple of friendly words with Lori who was extremely helpful.

It did take a few days to ship (bought late Thursday night, shipped on Tuesday) but promptly provided a tracking number when it shipped out and it arrived in great condition, as promised. I tracked the item, they shipped via FedEx, and we received it the second day after the shipment was picked up at Pet Crates.

All in all .. I would rate the customer service 'excellent' and the delivery 'good'.

Take that with a grain of salt though... I'm an IT guy by trade and I'm very used to buying things that ship next day if you order by let's say 2pm.

Not an unusual shipping time but I prefer next day shipping, if possible. Not speaking of shipping times ... just getting it out of the store.

Pet Crates did ask for an honest review including the good, the bad and the ugly and I really would have to nitpick on the shipping time (to leave) to find anything that I wouldn't put in the good column.

All in all, I highly recommend Pet Crates Direct any online shoppers out there. I would expect you to be more than satisfied with your shopping experience.

Franklin says hi to Lori and thank you for the wonderful home!
